smh

LOL Eri…I know what you mean. That’s what the word was in the grocery store yesterday! And it was two people from Chicago talking! But it’s not the inches of snow we got really, it’s the unpreparedness both on the county level and from commuters.

It went from nothing to heavy sleet and then heavy snowfall within like 15 minutes. There were people waiting at bus stops for hours cause the buses got stuck/turned over (on Rte. 29). There were little cars that couldn’t make it over an incline, people abandoning their cars, running out of gas, and power lines breaking! There are some 400,000 homes without power since yesterday evening. My friend works in Rockville, 7 miles from her home and it took her 7 hours to get home. Another friend’s mom was in tears when she got home at 1:30am from NW DC. So I do feel for people who had a 5-8 hr commute cause that’s just not normal! It was a mixture of having so many people living in a concentrated area and no preparedness/budget for snow removal. We rely so heavily on a few routes that take us in and out of DC/Baltimore. And when they’re not plowed/sanded, we literally fall apart. We are just not equipped for snowstorms, nor is it in our budget. :( But yeah, it’s not the end of the world and you have all the street cred for puttin up with snow since the holidays!

greenfeetforlife:

all i see all over fb is people crying and complaining about snow and traffic in the DC metropolitan area…

try getting over 20 inches in one day!!

nothing closes over here… and we get out and into it every day… no complaining necessary….

it has been snowing every day (minus 1 or 2 days) since we got back from holiday vacations…  i havent seen the ground in weeks. and i’m fine with it.

***i’m annoyed.
